Podcasting Q&A

What is a podcast?
A podcast is a multimedia (usually audio) file that can be downloaded over a feed and played on a computer or portable device. The word "podcast" is derived from the word "iPod."
What is a feed?
A feed is a special webpage that allows a publisher to distribute multimedia content. Although online content can be downloaded and then viewed or listened to using a web browser, feeds allow you to subscribe so that when new content becomes available, it is automatically delivered to you via email or a podcatcher.
What is a podcatcher?
A podcatcher, or podcast receiver, is a program or app used to search for and subscribe to feeds and download multimedia content from feeds.
Where can I get a podcatcher?
There are several good podcatchers available online. Last May, on Podcast Dojo, Bryan Goodwin published a useful list in his article, Recomended Podcast Managers or Podcatchers. Three of the more popular "free" programs in his list are iTunes, Juice and Miro. You can click on any of the icons below to download that program to your computer.
Donwload iTunes  Download Juice  Download Miro
How do I subscribe to Father Richard's sermons?
Click on this "feed" button, , or the one at the top of any page on our website, and you'll go to our feed. From there, you can listen to any podcast by clicking "Play Now" under the sermon title. You can also subscribe to our feed through any of the services in the "Subscribe Now" box.
If you have a podcatcher app already installed on your smart phone and you visit this link, you should get the option to open the link with your app.
Can I simply get sermons delivered to me by email?
Of course! Just click on this email link, , enter your email address and the CAPTCHA word, then click on "Complete Subscription Request." You will quickly receive an email from "FeedBurner Email Subscriptions" to verify you made the request. Click on the link in that email and you should see "Email Subscription Confirmed!" Then, whenever a new sermon is posted, you will receive an email with a download link. Simple.
